1. What This Extension Does

FaceFind AI is a Chrome extension that allows users to upload a photo, detect faces in the image using AI, and search for similar faces in a user-configured face database. All face detection and recognition is performed by the third-party Face++ API.

2. Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data. Specifically:

• We do not collect your name, email, or any identifying information.
• We do not track your browsing history or activity.
• We do not use cookies or analytics.
• We do not collect or transmit any data to our own servers.

3. Data Stored Locally

The following data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:

• Face++ API Key — Your API key, entered by you in the Settings page.
• Face++ API Secret — Your API secret, entered by you in the Settings page.
• FaceSet Token — An optional identifier for your face database.

This data never leaves your device except when it is sent directly to the Face++ API to authenticate your requests. It is never sent to us or any other third party.

4. Data Sent to Third Parties

When you upload an image and click "Search for Matches," the following data is sent to Face++ (Megvii Technology):

• The uploaded image (as base64-encoded data)
• Your Face++ API key and secret (for authentication)
• Your FaceSet token (if configured, for search)

This data is sent directly from your browser to Face++ servers (api-us.faceplusplus.com). We do not proxy, intercept, or store this data. Face++ processes the image according to their own privacy policy:

5. Data We Do NOT Collect

• Browsing history
• Form data or passwords
• Location data
• Financial information
• Health information
• Authentication tokens (other than Face++ credentials you provide)
• Personal communications
• Web content from pages you visit

6. Permissions Used

• storage — To save your API credentials locally on your device.
• host_permissions (api-us.faceplusplus.com, api-cn.faceplusplus.com) — To make API requests to Face++ for face detection and search.

7. User Control

You have full control over your data:

• You can clear your stored API credentials at any time from the Settings page.
• You can uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data.
• No account or registration is required to use this extension.

8. Children's Privacy

This extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
